Men’s Cotton Shirts

A 100% cotton men’s shirt offers a natural feel, softness and comfort for everyday wear. A blended shirt combines cotton with other fibres, such as elastane or polyester, depending on its composition. Adding elastane provides greater stretch and ease of movement, while other synthetic fibres can help the fabric retain its shape and make the shirt easier to care for. The right choice depends on the feel and features you look for in a shirt.

Poplin, Oxford and twill are different types of weave that influence the texture and appearance of a cotton shirt. Poplin has a smooth surface and a fine texture, creating a clean and elegant look that is ideal for formal occasions. Oxford features a more pronounced weave and a slightly textured finish, making it suitable for casual and smart-casual outfits. Twill is distinguished by its diagonal weave, offering a fuller texture and versatile style. At Oxford Company, you’ll find men’s cotton shirts in a variety of weaves, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your personal style and needs.

A 100% cotton shirt tends to wrinkle more easily because natural cotton fibres retain creases caused by movement and wear. The degree of wrinkling also depends on the fabric’s weave and finish. For best results, follow the care instructions on the label, avoid leaving the shirt in the washing machine for too long after the cycle ends, and hang it on a hanger to dry. If you prefer easier care, Non Iron shirts feature a special finish that helps reduce wrinkling and makes ironing easier.

A cotton shirt may shrink slightly in the first wash, as natural cotton fibres can be affected by washing temperature and the washing process. To help maintain its size and fit, avoid high washing temperatures and tumble drying unless permitted by the garment’s care instructions. Always follow the instructions on the care label and opt for air drying whenever possible.

A men’s cotton shirt is an excellent choice for summer, thanks to cotton’s natural feel and breathability. For greater comfort on hot days, opt for lightweight fabrics with a fine weave, such as poplin, which has a smooth surface and a light feel. However, how cool a shirt feels also depends on the fabric’s weight and density, as well as the shirt’s fit.

The quality of a cotton shirt can be assessed by the feel of the fabric, the quality of its construction and the attention to detail, including the stitching, collar and cuffs. At Oxford Company, we place emphasis on fabric quality and careful craftsmanship, offering men’s cotton shirts that combine comfort, elegance and timeless style. When choosing the right shirt, it is worth considering both its composition and fit, according to your needs and preferences.

To preserve the colour of your cotton shirt, it is important to follow the care instructions on the label. Washing at a low temperature, turning the shirt inside out and separating garments by colour all help maintain its original shade. Avoid using bleach and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight while drying. With proper care, your cotton shirt can retain its colour and appearance for longer.
